Why Oldsmobile's Diesel V8 Failed
When Oldsmobile first released for the 1978 model year the 5.7 liter (350 cubic-inch) V8 engine, it seemed to be the perfect solution to GM's dilemma of how to increase fuel efficiency in its full-size and mid-size cars rear-wheel drive cars. What the 1978-1985 Oldsmobile 5.7 liter Diesel V8 became was one of GM's biggest nightmares. This video explains why.
