Arthur is tasked with finding Reverend Swanson, who has gone missing after drinking again. His search leads him to the Valentine train station, where he finds Swanson heavily intoxicated and being encouraged to gamble by some less-than-honest men. To help the reverend out, Arthur sits in and plays a few rounds of poker in his place.

After the game, Reverend disappears once more. Arthur steps outside and questions two nearby men, who point him toward the tracks. He hurries after Swanson and finds him being assaulted. Arthur intervenes, knocking the attacker out with a single punch—killing him in the process. Two witnesses threaten to report him, but Arthur intimidates them into staying quiet.

The situation escalates when Arthur sees Swanson stumbling onto the train tracks, his foot caught just as a train approaches. In a dramatic moment, Arthur manages to free him and pull him away seconds before impact. He then takes the reverend back to camp to sleep it off, shaken by the close call but understanding the depth of Swanson’s struggles.
