The Southern Great Barrier Reef is an ocean lovers paradise, and Lady Musgrave Island is no exception. From the bustling coral reefs, vibrant hard coral gardens, and the unbelievable number of friendly turtles, this island has it all.

Lady Musgrave Island, located off Bundaberg Queensland is home to some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. But it's not just the underwater world that's impressive, the island itself is home to an enormous population of sea birds, and is a hub for these migratory species.

Our team, Descent Productions got the opportunity to spend 3 nights sleeping on Lady Musgrave HQ on project with Tourism and Events Queensland (run by operator Lady Musgrave Experience). Travellers here have three options for sleeping on the reef, the first is glamping in the very luxurious glamping tents on Lady Musgrave HQ, the second, and my personal favourite is sleeping underwater in the underwater observatory, and the third is camping on the island itself.

Tom Park is an accomplished underwater cinematographer and director, with over a decade of experience working in the underwater film industry. Tom has worked on a variety of projects, from short form docu-series to commercials and brand campaigns, for clients such as The National Gallery of Victoria, Tourism & Events Queensland, Destination NSW, The Smithsonian, and his work has been recognised with awards from film festivals around the world.

Tom is known for his technical expertise in working with underwater cameras and equipment, as well as his creative vision in capturing the beauty and uniqueness of the underwater world. He is passionate about ocean conservation and using his art to raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
