Pruning Corn Roots – A Surprising Trick for Bigger Ears 🌽✂️

Watch a farmer use scissors to trim a few of the surface roots on young corn plants. By cutting some of the shallow roots, the plant is forced to grow deeper, stronger roots that reach more water and nutrients. This old farming hack also helps prevent lodging (falling over) in windy weather. Only trim a few roots – never the taproot – and do it when the plant is about knee‑high. After two weeks, the corn looks healthier and stands taller. Have you ever heard of root pruning for corn? Would you try this on your own patch? Share your experiences or questions below!
