July 2006. With the world's attention diverted in Lebanon, Palestinians feel their plight is being ignored. Civilian casualties are mounting as the Israeli incursions continue. "How can they do this? It's not fair!" states one man in bewilderment, standing in the ruins of his razed orchard. "I've never fired missiles or joined the army." Since its power stations were bombed, Gaza is now without reliable electricity or clean water. Food is running low and the UN is warning of an approaching humanitarian crisis. Money is now so tight that children scrabble around on the ground looking for shell casing to sell as scrap metal. As the Palestinian President's advisor warns: "There is desperation. And that leads to people accepting the ideas of Hamas."
