We Borrowed $1,000 to Build an Income Machine – ULTY Week 1
Welcome to Week 1 of the ULTY Experiment the test to see if an ETF can literally pay for itself.
On September 24, 2025, I borrowed $1,000 to buy ULTY, a high-yield, covered call ETF. One week later, the first distribution arrived and the results are in.
In this video, we’ll break down:
💵 How much ULTY paid in its first week
📈 How many new shares we added
🏦 How much the loan balance dropped
💸 Whether this “self-liquidating loan” is actually working
This is part of my ongoing Debt-Funded Portfolio Experiment where I’m building an income machine using borrowed money, covered call ETFs, and reinvested distributions.
The goal? To prove that cash flow can compound faster than interest.
💰 Week 1 Summary:
Borrowed: $1,000
Loan Balance: $994.85
Portfolio Value: $989.28
Down $5.57 after 1 week (-0.56%)
Cash Flow Earned: $13.93
Interest Cost: $1.85
Net Positive Cash Flow: $12.08
