D-EHIS | Stark Turbulent D

You don't need Electronic Flight Displays or Autopilots to fly. There is no need for gyroscopic instruments, a Transponder or even Flaps either. Flying the Stark Turbulent is straight back to the roots.

The Turbulent was built in 1958 by Wilhelm Stark in Minden. It was based on the french amateur built Druine D31 Turbulent and modified by Wilhelm Stark so that it suited the German Regulations. It has a VW Beetle Type Engine with 45 hp and a max. Takeoff Weight of only 330 kg. "Stark Turbulent" translated to english means "very turbulent", which describes exactly what flying this little plane feels like.

Luckily winds were very calm, when I took the Turbulent for a short flight from Braunschweig (EDVE) to Hildesheim (EDVM).
