Hubble Found a Galaxy Made of 99% Dark Matter — And It Changes Everything

Hubble just made one of its most stunning discoveries yet — a galaxy so dark, so empty, and so mysterious that scientists almost didn't believe it was real. Meet CDG-2: a "ghost galaxy" located 300 million light-years away, made up of almost 99% dark matter, with barely any stars to show for it.

In this video, we break down:
✅ What CDG-2 is and why it's unlike any galaxy we've ever seen
✅ The clever globular cluster trick that allowed Hubble to find it
✅ What a dark-matter-dominated galaxy tells us about the early universe
✅ Why Hubble — after 35 years in space — is still making history in 2026

This discovery, published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters in February 2026, marks the first time a galaxy has ever been detected purely through its globular cluster population. Scientists from the University of Toronto, ESA, and NASA collaborated to confirm that CDG-2 is real — and what they found raises enormous questions about dark matter, galaxy formation, and how many more ghost galaxies might be hiding out there.
