After 18 years of nude photography, this is the first time I am sharing the behind the scenes of my photography with the public. I will try to post more videos of my nude photography sessions in the future. God knows how much I have to say about nude photography.
Contrary to appearances, nude photography is very difficult and tricky. A nude photographer must consider many things before taking a photo.
- How to communicate with the model
- How to look at the model without making her uncomfortable
- How to pose the model so that our photos remain nude and not erotic or pornographic
And hundreds of other tricks, these will be our behavioral tricks. After that, we must apply the best and most appropriate lighting setup based on the photography concept and the knowledge we have gained about the model's body and body features.
In this photoshoot, I initially used 3 flash lights. 2 soft lights on either side of the model with equal power and one light with a beauty dish from above the model's head pointing down. But in the middle of the photoshoot, I turned off the light above the model's head and angled the other two lights more towards the background to create more of a silhouette. Also, I increased the light output of those two flashes to have a whiter background.
During the shoot, I asked the model to cling to the lace curtain so that the curves of her body would be visible in the curtain. She even grabbed the curtain with her hand and pulled it so that the folds in the curtain would create high-contrast shadows on her body.
In the future, I will try to post more behind-the-scenes videos of my nude photoshoots and provide more explanations about lighting and nude photography tricks.
