Create custom Colored Line Segments for your typography in this Adobe Illustrator Tutorial.
Before getting started, make a duplicate of your text, because this is a destructive method.
➡️ Start by selecting your text and Expanding it.
➡️ Choose the Line Segment Tool and make sure the fill and stroke are set to transparent.
➡️ Drag out several lines that cross over your typography.
➡️ Select both your typography and line segments and go to the toolbar and choose the Live Paint Bucket Tool.
➡️ With a color swatch selected, start placing new colors in areas that your line segment crosses over your text.
➡️ Using the Direct Select tool, reposition the line segments by moving their start or end anchor points.
