Let me be completely 100% honest with you here. The jobs teaching ESL I've had that I enjoyed the least were the ones where I was thinking about money 24/7. The jobs where I've felt happiest teaching English were the ones where I made the least. My students were awesome and the job itself was low stress. My day to day was so easy and there were so many things to look forward to that my future wasn't even something I regularly thought about and it was definitely not 1st priority. There is an opportunity cost for everything we do and if 2020 has taught me anything at all, it's that no two years of our lives are alike. We get one shot at this thing and everyone has different priorities when they go abroad to teach EFL.
