Petrie-Flom Center | SCOTUS Revisits Abortion: Legal Strategies in Dobbs Oral Arguments

On December 1, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case involving a Mississippi law that would ban abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The Court’s ruling in this case has the potential to overturn the nearly fifty-year precedent of Roe v. Wade. Just days after oral arguments, the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study hosted amici and other law scholars to discuss the legal strategies used in the case.

Panelists:
Introduction and Moderator: Rachel Rebouché, Interim Dean and James E. Beasley Professor of Law, Temple University Beasley School of Law

Catherine Glenn Foster, President and CEO, Americans United for Life

Sherif Girgis, Associate Professor of Law, Notre Dame Law School

Michele Goodwin, Chancellor’s Professor of Law and Director, Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy, University of California, Irvine School of Law

Mary Ziegler, Stearns Weaver Miller Professor, Florida State University College of Law
