Sand calculation process #reels #construction #sand #calculation #cft #video #shorts

Calculating the CFT (Cubic Feet) of sand requires multiplying the length, width, and depth of the sand's container or pile. The formula is:
\(Volume (CFT) = \text{Length (ft)} \times \text{Width (ft)} \times \text{Height/Depth (ft)}\)
All measurements must be in feet. [1, 2, 3]

1. Simple Area/Pit Calculation

If you are ordering sand to fill a rectangular area (like a garden bed or a slab foundation):

Measure the length, width, and depth in inches.

Convert to feet by dividing each measurement by 12.

Multiply the three numbers. [1, 2, 3]

Example: To fill a patch 10 ft × 10 ft with 6 inches (or 0.5 ft) of sand:
10 ft × 10 ft × 0.5 ft = 50 CFT [1]

2. Truck or Lorry Measurement

Sand delivered in dump trucks or tippers often has a trapezoidal shape. Use the average of the top and bottom lengths: [1, 2]

Length: Measure the bottom length and the top length, then average them:
\(\text{Length} = \frac{L1 + L2}{2}\)

Width: Measure the inside width of the truck bed.

Height: Measure the height of the sand at different points and average them:
\(\text{Height} = \frac{H1 + H2 + H3}{3}\)

Calculate: Multiply Average Length × Width × Average Height. [1]

Example: If a truck bed has dimensions averaging 9 ft in length, 5 ft in width, and 6 ft in height, the volume is:
9 ft × 5 ft × 6 ft = 270 CFT [1]
