AUDEMARS PIGUET CODE 11.59 REVIEW: DISASTER?

At this year's SIHH, Audemars Piguet announced the launch of an entirely new model line - the Code 11.59. The line consists of 13 total references, and 6 different models ranging from a simple three-hand with a date all the way up to a tourbillon and minute repeater. Their cases are octagonal, all in precious metal, with the bezels and lugs attached and openworked, with a crystal that is crafted specifically for the models featuring a number of complex curves.

AP's biggest issue, of course, is the fact that their singular popular model line is the Royal Oak. And while the case finishing and design on the new Code 11.59, the dial is less than exciting. Much of the design is lazy, especially when it comes to the placement of date windows. The question then becomes this - will the Code 11.59 collection be refined and redeveloped over time to truly capitalize on the potential of this collection? Only time will tell.
