since we're doing poetry lemme actually for once

enamored by glamour and status we yearn
forgetful of every achievement we earn
too late till the vision of heinsight we learn
lay dreams on the fire, reality burns

back to the basics each day after day
silence seems louder the longer i lay
think about words i swallowed and never did say
fear surrounds me when i try to be brave

when its said and done, i wonder "who will I be?"
i spend so much time worrying " what do you think about me?"
then back to my cavernous thoughts i retreat
positive affirmations i play on repeat
