Escaramuza & Tomas Garcilazo - Night of the Horse 2014

On Saturday April 19th at the 69th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show in Del Mar, California we were entertained by Escaramuza & Tomas Garcilazo.

A group of your women riders who perform traditional Mexican rodeo-type sport requiring precision riding and exceptional teamwork is collectively known as Escaramuza. The ladies ride side-saddle and wear colorful, traditional Mexican dresses. Before there were Escaramuza there were Adelitas, or "women of the revolution," who were used as decoys during the Mexican Revolution. The women rode fast, raised a cloud of dust and tricked the Federales into thinking an attack was coming from that direction. The revolutionaries would attck from the rear as the Federales went full-tikt after the cloud of dust.
