In our Newscast round-up this week, Germany returns to the headlines as the government attempts to rush through drastic cuts to its feed-in tariff. Opposition MPs, solar companies and trade union alike are up in arms. Solar giants First Solar, Yingli Green and SolarWorld take a massive hit with Q4 losses from €300 million to over €600 million. On the up-side, thin-film company Solar Frontier has achieved a world record aperture area cell efficiency of 17.8% of its CIS-based thin-film technology.
