Russia "Strikes Ukraine Reserves", Putin Sacks Deputy Defence Minister, Missile Debris in Poland
Russian-installed official Oleksandr Mishchenko was reportedly killed in a blast in the occupied city of Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast on April 27. The Russian Defence Ministry claims its sea-based, high-precision, long-range weapons struck the Ukrainian military reserves on April 26. Wagner Group claims it suspended artillery fire in Bakhmut to allow Ukrainian forces to safely show the city to visiting US journalists. However, Prigozhin later called his statement about the ceasefire in Bakhmut during a US media trip a “military humour”.
Meanwhile, British Intelligence claims Russian troops have set up fighting positions at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. Russia has reportedly sacked its deputy defence minister in a sign of Putin’s growing frustration with the Russian army’s performance in Ukraine. The remains of an unidentified military object were found in a forest near Bydgoszcz in northern Poland.
