'Glue Ear' & 'ETD' in Revealed After Ear Wax Removal - Mr Neel Raithatha (THC)

This 4 year old child had been suffering from aural fullness, earache and reduced hearing in both ears for over 2 months, with the right ear in particular being significantly affected.

After using olive oil and sodium bicarbonate ear wax drops for 8 weeks, the child's GP had referred to ENT for microsuction to be performed on the NHS but was advised that the waiting list was approximately 3 months.

Given it was affecting the child's performance at school not being able to hear the teacher, they were recommended by Dr Raminder Sahota to contact The Hear Clinic to be treated privately by Mr Neel Raithatha (Consultant Audiologist & Cerumenologist).

Both ear canals were cleared of obstructive ear wax via endoscopic suction (E-Suction®) using the Clearwax - Ear Wax Removal Specialists iCLEARscope®, but to only reveal Otitis Externa (outer ear infection) with otorrhea (discharge) and Acute Otitis Media (glue ear) in his right ear, In the left ear the child had Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. These were confirmed by middle-ear pressure testing (Tympanometry).

A referral was sent to the child's GP to have both the above treated, which up until now went undiagnosed and untreated due to the occluding ear wax.
