Under the Forests

A journey from North to South, exploring the connections between forests, animals and people, under huge ancient trees. Harvesting the beauty of these links in the shape of images, sounds, and words. Along old and new roads that lead from Galicia to Extremadura, along the Portuguese border.

Trees that are part of landscapes created thanks to the work and knowledge of many human generations looking for food, firewood, timber, and cork in the different parts of their plant anatomy.

Trees, every inch of which is made the most of, that rise just the right distance away from their neighbors, that are trimmed to enhance their longevity, fruit production, and generous shade in the summer, that protects the grass and livestock.

A system consisting of plants, animals, and buried fungi connected by the glue of the farming culture, that provides us with knowledge-rich products that taste of chestnut and acorn, of oak leaves, diverse pastures, dense shade.
