At least three Russian and several Turkish soldiers were wounded in Syria's Idlib province on Tuesday, as their joint military patrol on the M4 highway was hit by an explosion from an improvised explosive device (IED).

The aftermath of the explosion can be seen in the footage, with some debris remaining in the location of the blast.

The attack took place on the strategic M4 motorway when the patrolling forces were combing the area between the towns of Oram and Ariha.

Both Russian and Turkish armoured vehicles were damaged while Russian officers received minor injuries, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Since March 15, joint Russian-Turkish patrols have been ensuring security in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Moscow and Ankara are working together in the area despite supporting the opposite sides of the conflict.
