Sanctuary Series: Maryem Tollar and Dawne McFarlane
Juno-nominated musician Maryem Tollar and storyteller Dawne McFarlane engage in a lyrical call and response in this impassioned interpretation of a classic Arabic folk tale from One Thousand and One Nights.
This stunning performance, delivered in the Museum’s second-floor gallery, is part of the Sanctuary Series. Featuring spoken word, storytelling, dance, music, and poetry from seasoned local artists as well as new voices, this series excavates themes — of migration, home, identity, and refuge — highlighted in the Museum’s Sanctuary exhibition.
