This bulit-in is featured in a lot of DR Horton homes across the country. It is a simple design meant for organizing your shoes, jackets and other belongings as you enter your home. Sometimes it can be located in a mudroom entering from the back of the house, but for most floorpans for DR Horton, it is located close to the door entering into the house from your garage. I feel this is a perfect DIY project for homeowners with some tool skills, but at the very least I HOPE this gives you an idea for what you envision in your home!

For this “drop zone” all you need to know is the width of your base bench/cubbies and just a little math to figure it out from there! For my application I did not need to worry about the depth so maybe verify that you are happy with 16” of depth for your base. You can also build the base with 1 X 12 MDF if you need to shrink it down a bit!

Any questions please let me know!
