Installed a Bafang mid drive onto a fat bike. The drive side bearing cup was hard to remove as it was very tight and the socket was slipping. If you have the same problem, try using a bar clamp to hold the socket in place before going to more destructive methods. Remember the drive side is reverse thread! If you do this conversion, ensure you measure the bottom bracket and the diameter of the chainwheel before buying the motor. The 44T Bafang chainwheel was the largest one to fit this bike. Most of my rides are on fairly flat terrain, gravel trails, so I need easy cadence for cruising. If you climb very steep hills you may want a smaller drive wheel with a deep offset to use the lower gear sprockets. It has to be able to fit over the motor drive housing too.
