3.5m puppet of Syrian refugee girl visits climate talks

(9 Nov 2021) Little Amal, a 3.5 meter tall animatronic puppet representing a Syrian refugee girl, joined a protest at the climate conference in Glasgow on Tuesday.
Activists and Little Amal held up a banner reading: "1.8 million people say: save our climate our future now" after puppeteers steered her under a giant glowing globe of the Earth.
Samoan activist Brianna Fruean described the puppet as "a beautiful representation of all the little girls that couldn't make it here today."
Fruean said the activists demands were best met by "cutting emissions, keeping fossil fuels in the ground, making sure that we're ending this era of destruction now and as well as making sure we're financing those countries who are living with the consequences of inaction but aren't a part of the problem in creating it."
Little Amal also took part in the plenary session of the COP26 and is expected to make further appearances throughout the day.
