Rep. John Lewis on Witnessing Black Lives Matter, Decades After '60s Civil Rights Movement

Rep. John Lewis explained how the Black Lives Matter movement compares to what he experienced in the 1960s as one of the leaders of the civil rights movement. Despite feeling frightened, frustrated, and emotional, he told Ellen the words of his friend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. inspire him to continue to push forward, stand up, speak out, and fight for what’s right.

He also shared an update on his pancreatic cancer diagnosis, what he thinks will happen to the officers charged in the George Floyd case, and how he feels gratified to see people all around the world become allies in the Black Lives Matter movement.
