Fiedler's Contingency Theory of Leadership - Explanation, Background, Pros & Cons, Advice

This video explains Fiedler's Contingency Theory and how to use the situational graph that is the core of Fiedler's Contingency Model.
We explain the leadership behaviors, the three dimensions describing the situation, and how to assess what type of leader fits for each situation and how the least preferred coworker scale, or LPC scale, is used to assess the leader's behavior. According to Fiedler, leaders are either task oriented or relationship oriented, which are fitting for different situations. Eight situations are defined by the variables of Leader-Member relations, Task Structure, and Position Power. Depending on the combinations, a specific leadership behavior will lead to high or low performance.

Besides this, this video contains the advantages and disadvantages of Fiedler's Contingency Theory of Leadership and ends with a recommendation on whether you should use it or not.
