3UZ IS300 & LS S13 vs The LZ Compound | Behind the Build

For this episode of Behind the Build, we linked up with Chris Napp and his dad Mike Napp for a father and son drift car feature. This one was a cool episode because it wasn’t just about the cars — it was about the history behind them.

Mike is actually the owner of Englishtown Raceway Park, and both him and Chris have been around drifting since the early days. Over the years they’ve driven with a lot of people in the drift world, including Adam, and now they both have their own drift cars built with the same philosophy — simple, reliable cars that can be driven all day.

Mike’s car is an LS-powered S13 built around suspension geometry and driver feel, running FDF suspension components, BC Racing coilovers, Drift HQ handbrake setup, and a Holley Terminator X ECU.

Chris’s car is a Lexus IS300 powered by a Toyota 3UZ V8 and runs a full FDF suspension setup, Feal coilovers, Radium fuel system, Drift HQ quick change differential, Rise Fab quick change subframe, and a Link ECU.

Two very different cars, but both built with the same goal: reliability, consistency, and seat time.

That’s really what Behind the Build is all about — the cars, the people, and the stories behind the builds.
