Cloud Coaching - Scaling Apps on Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE)

In this session, we will showcase three common solutions for scaling applications in OKE (OCI Container Engine for Kubernetes) environments and best practices for efficiently using them for two OKE deployment options such as OKE with Managed Nodes and OKE with Virtual Nodes.

Then we will deep dive into autoscaling features for OKE and current limitations, showing how to scale deployed applications in OKE.

We will show how to enable scaling using metrics such as memory and CPU utilization (provided by the Kubernetes metric server), how to dynamically adjust memory and CPU based on the usage, to match application requirements, minimize resource wastage, and facilitate optimum cluster resource utilization and how to handle temporary bursts of applications load with k8s autoscaling solutions.
