Here's a brief rundown of how this works:
ach artisan earns an above fair wage per bracelet. Our company started in 2013 with around 17 artisans. We've since trained and employed over 300. Each artisan is taught how to create the bracelets and how to build a sustainable business. Our office in Nepal then assigns a team leader to each artisan group.
The women in these groups/co-ops are supplied the materials and tools to create their bracelets. They don't pay for the supplies or materials. Each artisan sets a price per bracelet within their group. Over the years the price on average is 250 Nepalese Rupees per bracelet. Some groups with talented producers who create difficult patterns charge slightly more.
Each bracelet takes approx. 2 - 3 hours to make. Every artisan is above 18 years of age and works from the safety of their home. The artisans earn a very good wage per day in Nepal.
