GUITAR TONE - GIBSON vs SCHECTER vs IBANEZ - Carry On Wayward Son

Here we have the Gibson SG, Schecter Blackjack & Ibanez JEM Jr playing a classic tune. The Schecter has Active Pickups (Seymour Duncan Blackouts), the Gibson SG has Passive 490R & 498T pickups and the JEM has Ibanez style Dimarzio pickups.

To my ears the Schecter sounds dark & fat, the SG sounds like classic rock and the JEM has a very bright sound with plenty of clarity. The JEM also has a single coil pickup in the middle position, which works well for clean tones.

The amp used was a Marshall Vintage Modern. Recorded with one Shure SM 57 Mic.
