Wars have been one of the active reasons for the historic recessions civilization has faced over the last 100 years. Every time oil, a direct factor, was afflicted, it created unrest and global economic downturns.

The following are the major historic phases of severe depressions we have faced in the last century:-

1. The Great Depression of 1929–33
2. Recession of 1945, 1949 (Post World War II)
3. OPEC Oil Price Shock of 1973–75 (Oil embargo by OPEC countries)
4. 1980–81 Oil Shock (Post Islamic Iranian Regime)

So where are we heading now?*

But this article is about the economics of the market. The great William Delbert Gann developed the famous “Gann Model” in the early 20th century, a market forecasting model that uses periodic cycles and price patterns to predict future movements in stocks and commodities. The theory is still used and remains extremely accurate. Mr. Gann traveled to India, studied ancient mathematical models and astronomy, and evidence shows his awareness of the Indian Jyotish system, including the Sarbhatobhadra Chakram.

Sarbhatobhadra Chakram is a Tantric tool found in Phaldeepika, Swara Shastra, and other esoteric texts. This article is not about describing the procedure of SVC but highlighting parameters that may unfold in upcoming transits affecting all of us.

Planetary speeds are broadly categorized into three types:
1. Margi
2. Vakri
3. Atichari

At a gross level, when an outer planet is having the Sun transiting in the 11th, 12th, or 2nd house from its base, it becomes Atichari (abnormally fast). In the same house with the Sun, it goes combust.

From a mundane perspective, price fluctuations mainly depend on afflictions of malefic planets, which bring inflation and price rises, whereas benefic strength brings market stability or sometimes “Mandi” (fall and price check). Market trends also depend on planetary rise and combustion.

In SVC, each Nakshatra (28 including Abhijit) is allocated certain commodities. Planets act like carrom strikers, analyzed based on the Veda (piercing aspects) they create on Nakshatras. The direction of aspects depends on speed: retrograde planets aspect right, normal margi aspect forward, and Atichari aspect left.

For example, Venus currently transits Ashwini aspects Purva Phalguni directly (since it is at normal speed).

*So why are oil prices skyrocketing?*

We know a brutal war is ongoing. Astrologically, Saturn is the karaka of oil and oil mongers. In historical recessions, tracing Saturn’s and Rahu’s transits shows the importance of Adra Nakshatra which represents OIL, followed by Dhanishta and Uttara Ashadha. Uttarabhadra is also related to crude oil.

When the Sun entered Aquarius on 15th February, Saturn in Pisces became Atichari. On 8th March it went combust and will remain Atichari until 15th May, when the Sun transits Taurus. From $69 in February, oil prices are now hovering above $100. Saturn is afflicted by the Sun in Uttarabhadra (denoting oil), and since it is Atichari, its left aspect falls on Adra—hence oil prices are rising.

*The Planetary War in April:*

On 18th–20th April, Saturn, Mercury, and Mars will participate in a planetary war in Pisces. Mercury relates to yellow materials, trading class( Baniya), and earth items; Mars is dhatu and the karaka of energy; Saturn is oil. They are natural enemies: Mercury to Mars, Mars to Saturn. During this time, the Sun will be in Aries, so all three will not only be in a dreaded war but also violently aspect Adra. This indicates planetary mayhem, destruction, and fire. Oil and energy prices may be hugely impacted. Until Saturn transits Revati, the commodity market will not see peace.

This year, Vikram Samvat is Pisces, with combust Saturn in Lagna. The second lord Mars, who is the Mantri of the year, is in the 12th house with enemy Mercury and Rahu. The second lord represents finance, hence financial turmoil is likely until Jupiter, the lord of the year, exalts.

It is also notable that Rahu’s transit in Dhanishta, which represents all dhatus, has previously coincided with recessions following extreme inflation. In 1990, Guru was in Cancer (during the Iraq–Kuwait oil shock), when a global Mandi was witnessed. Permanent losses of assets, infrastructure, and finance due to war and the Strait of Hormuz choking eventually led to correction because of Jupiter’s strength. Generally, this indicates an upcoming recession is inevitable.

Possibly from August onwards, when Rahu visits Dhanishta, we may witness another crisis to negotiate.
