Outriders Gameplay And Impressions | Awesome Superpowers, But Does Anyone Care?

Outriders has awesome superpowers and meaty weapons, but where’s the buzz? With shiny new Outriders gameplay, Colm explains why this mix of Destiny and Gears of War might not be clicking.

In this Outriders preview we look at the Trickster and Pyromancer classes, showing off lots of fun slow-mo Outriders gameplay as we stop soldiers in their tracks and detonate them into gooey chunks. A lot of these Outriders impressions are basically us cooing over extremely violent superpowers, and how often you get to use them - Outriders is not stingy with the ability cooldowns, which gives it a really fun pace of its own. Outriders trickster is a particular treat, with powers built around bullet time destruction. Expect a lot of slow moving body parts in this Outriders gameplay (PC).

With the game still several months away this isn’t a final Outriders review, or anything close to that. Matthew seems to enjoy it more than Colm, but he wonders why there seems to be so little buzz around the game - it’s a next gen title and made by a studio with good shooter pedigree (People Can Fly worked on Bulletstorm and Gears Judgement), but we don’t hear much chat about the game. Maybe this Outriders new gameplay will convince people. Outriders Destiny similarities maybe don’t help? Although this isn’t a live service game, so don’t worry.

This is Outriders gameplay PC, but there’ll also be Outriders PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X - we’re intrigued to see next-gen gameplay as currently it looks like a very solid example of current tech.
