5 Amazing Places At The ENGLISH GARDEN / ENGLISCHER GARTEN In MUNICH!

If you are visiting Munich, don't forget to visit these 5 amazing places at the English Gardens! Relaxing, interesting as well as cultural!

Introduction:

Hey everybody and welcome back to another episode of Triple P with me Surya Sridhar. Guys its a beautiful Sunday out here. Very warm, bustling and lots of people out, and I’ve decided to visit one of the biggest and most interesting parks in all of Europe - the Englischer Garten. So let’s get started!

Number 1: Eisbach Surfing

Who said that you have to go to the beach to surf? Head on over to the Eisbach where you can witness skilled German surfers riding half-meter artificial waves in the middle of this large city! This local oddity started in the 1970’s and ever since has lead to yearly surfing competitions. Munich has also been named the river surfing capital of the world as its the birthplace of this unusual sport!

Number 2: Chinese Tower & Beer Garden

The Chinesicher Turm is a pagoda-style, all-wooden tower with five storeys, and was built in the 1970’s. It is especially important for 3 reasons: 1. It hosts the Kocherlball that takes place in July - a fancy early morning dance to commemorate the servants and cooks from the 19th century. 2. It is a huge attraction for Christmas as is beautifully lit up and 3. Every weekend it hosts brass-band performers on the first floor who play traditional music for the crowds enjoying the most famous beer garden. It accommodates 7000 people and offers delicious traditional foods and drinks such as grilled fish and chicken, roasted pork knuckles, pretzel, sausages, baked goods, Hofbräu Beer and so forth.

Number 3: Dancing at the Temple of Diana

Right in the centre of this beautiful Hofgarten premise, lies the beautiful Temple of Diana. The pavilion was designed in 1615 and includes eight arches leading to footpaths that serves to divide the garden into eight individual sections. Surprisingly it has become the meeting point of dancers and musicians during the warm summer nights. Everyone is invited and guess what - it is free! If you are interested in Salsa then come on Wednesday and Sundays, for Tango on Fridays and Swing on Sundays!

Number 4: Kleinhesseloher Lake

For the next stop, you can either reach this beautiful lake by foot or you can take the fun manual rickshaw there. Spend half an hour boating around by yourself or with a group, soaking up the crystal clear waters and the warm sunshine. You may be enticed to jump into the lake to swim around for a while, or if that isn't your cup of tea, perhaps you may want to buy a packet of bread to feed the ducks and swans that happily interact with the visitors.

Number 5: Schönfeldwiese Area

After enjoying the lake, you may want to take a horse drawn carriage ride to this area to enjoy the greenery. Buy yourself a cold ice-cream and lie down in the shade, read a book, have a picnic or if you are feeling more energized instead, play a game of frisbee or football. This place is also perfect for kids who can enjoy not only the playground, but also a fun musical carousel ride!
