When the Pipers Play #SlowAirSunday

"When the Pipers Play" is an old tune that has many names like, "Ol Waly Waly" and "The Water Is Wide". The original Air is known to be an ancient air which was first published in 1724 but could also come from English or Irish Folk Music. It is a timeless and beautiful melody that has been sung by many artists over the years. This tune has been featured in many Military Tattoos as well. The message in this version is beautiful.

As I walked through the "Medal of Honor Memorial" at Riverside National Cemetery reading the names etched on these walls, this tune came to my mind. I knew immediately that this was the perfect setting to play this beautiful tune. I know that they hear me when I play and I feel their joy on being remembered. As I was finishing my recording I saw a beautiful lone Dove land on the flag pole and watch me as I played. It brought tears to my eyes and made me quite emotional...which I won't share on my video. To see this Dove and know the symbolic meaning of the Dove made this moment unforgettable. The Dove symbolizes those we have loved and lost. I had never read the word of this tune until I started doing my research and this part stuck out to me:

"It speaks of love, I have lost
Its speaks of my eternal cost
It speaks the price of peace today
A price remembered, when the pipers play"

This verse made me emotional when I realized that the Dove symbolized exactly this meaning. I am so happy I was able to record this beautiful bird so I could share this moment with you. Hope you all feel the love and peace that I felt at this moment for this Sunday.

Please go visit your local Cemetery or National Cemetery and remember those who fought and died for our freedom. Thank you for watching and reading about this #SlowAirSunday

Lyrics:
I hear the voice, I hear the war
I hear the sound, on a distant shore
I feel the spirit of yesterday,
I touch the past, when the pipers play.

The pipes kept playing, for you and me
They kept on saying, we will soon be free
And your soul will never fade away
You'll live forever, when the pipers play

The pibroch rears its deadly cry
Ah, some will live and some will die
And though they passed so far away
I feel their presence when the pipers play

The pipes kept playing, for you and me
They kept on saying, we will soon be free
And your soul will never fade away
You'll live forever, when the pipers play

It speaks of love, I have lost
Its speaks of my eternal cost
It speaks the price of peace today
A price remembered, when the pipers play

We do remember when the pipers play
The pipes kept playing, for you and me
They kept on saying we will soon be free
And your soul will never fade away

You'll live forever, when the pipers play
The pipes kept playing, for you and me
They kept on saying we will soon be free

And your soul will never fade away
You'll live forever, when the pipers play
