Op Amps | Circuits Lesson 2.4
Today, we introduce operational amplifiers, commonly known as op-amps. These integrated circuits form the foundation of many analog systems and are capable of performing a wide variety of mathematical and signal-processing operations.
In this lesson, we discuss four common op-amp configurations: the inverting amplifier, non-inverting amplifier, adder, and subtractor. Using the ideal op-amp assumptions that no current enters the input terminals and that both input voltages are equal under negative feedback, we derive and analyze each circuit step-by-step.
Throughout the lesson, we apply nodal analysis and circuit fundamentals to understand not only how these configurations work, but why they work. By the end of the video, you should be comfortable analyzing several common op-amp circuits and deriving their input-output relationships.
This lesson serves as an introduction to op-amp circuit analysis, and future lessons will build upon these concepts with more advanced configurations and applications.
I hope you find the lesson helpful, and stay tuned for more circuit analysis, electronics, and electrical engineering content.
