Metal Organic Framework Research at Clarkson University

Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science Mario Wriedt's research activities are mainly focused on developing new strategies for the design and synthesis of functional solid-state materials from molecular building blocks and advancing the understanding of the structure-property relationship of materials. His group at works toward the development and characterization of new metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) whose applications address some of our society's most challenging needs, such as:

- Clean Energy Alternatives through the synthesis of tailored MOFs which can store an adequate amount of H2 or CH4 at moderate temperatures and pressures.

- Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions through the synthesis of tailored MOFs which can capture large amounts of CO2 from flue gas streams.

- Stimuli-Responsive Magnetic Materials through the synthesis of tailored MOFs which can be used for sensing applications
