A demolition drive initiated by Western Railway in Mumbai's Bandra East slum cluster turned violent after clashes erupted between protesters and police personnel. The anti-encroachment operation, ordered by the Bombay High Court, aimed to remove over four hundred unauthorized structures built on railway land in the Gareeb Nagar area. During the drive, residents allegedly pelted stones at officials, prompting the police to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
