Navratri Special Kuttu Curry & Samak Rice | Fasting (Vrat) Meal Recipe

Enjoy a delicious and wholesome Navratri meal with this Kuttu Curry & Samak Rice recipe! Made with buckwheat flour (kuttu) and barnyard millet (samak rice), this dish is perfect for fasting days, packed with nutrients, and super easy to prepare.

This vrat-friendly combination is gluten-free, light on the stomach, and full of flavors, making it an ideal meal during Navratri or any fasting occasion.

✅ Ingredients:
For Kuttu Curry:
🌾 Kuttu atta (buckwheat flour) – ½ cup
🥛 Fresh curd – ½ cup (whisked)
🥔 Potatoes – 1 (mashed)
🛢 Desi ghee – 1 tbsp
🟢 Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
🌶 Green chili – 1 (chopped)
🧂 Sendha namak (rock salt) – as per taste
💧 Water – 1 cup
🟢 Coriander leaves – for garnish

For Samak Rice:
🍚 Samak rice (barnyard millet) – ½ cup
💦 Water – 1.5 cups
🛢 Desi ghee – 1 tbsp
🟢 Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
🧂 Sendha namak – as per taste

🔥 Instructions:

1️⃣ Prepare Kuttu Curry with Curd:
Heat desi ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds & chopped green chili.

Add mashed potatoes & kuttu atta, mix well.

Lower the flame and slowly add whisked curd, stirring continuously.

Add water gradually and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring until smooth.

Season with sendha namak and garnish with fresh coriander.

2️⃣ Cook Samak Rice:

Rinse samak rice well and soak for 15 minutes.

In a pan, heat ghee, add cumin seeds, then add water & salt.

Add soaked samak rice and cook on low flame until soft and fluffy.
3️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve warm for a nutritious and satisfying vrat meal!
