Copperplate Variations

As the research gets more ligature and flourished based I feel the need to use more muscle groups in varying combinations.

Setting up or plotting or completely ghosting the shape before you execute it is a great way of checking your dexterity, scope and scale of movement.

AGAIN - if you are trying these 17th, 18th or 19th English Roundhand letters be careful to check what the axis of the letter is. I have found that working in the 55 degree axial line does not necessarily produce the best results for these historical letterforms.

I see so many circles rather than ellipses. I have a hunch why this is so but am not ready to share that until I have done much more research into these letterforms.

This will be an ongoing series to help get you interested in the shapes we have in English Roundhand but also in the hopes that it will encourage you to do some historical research.
