Its remoteness has meant that many animal species, extinct in other parts of the world live on its deserts and mountains. This film explores Mongolia and blends the story of some of the world's rarest creatures - the Snow Leopard, the Gobi Bear and the Wild Camel - with the colourful lifestyle of Mongolia's nomadic people. Survival has been granted unique access and co-operation by the Mongolian authorities. The film contrasts the restless travelling life of the nomadic horsemen with the poignant story of the country's rare, surviving animals. This film features the work of one of the world's most renowned field biologists, Dr George Schaller as he attempts to come face-to-face with the snow leopard for the first time which have always been one of the most important animals to him - the embodiment of the spirit of all the worlds most wide and lonely places.
