It’s 1909, and Selfridges has just opened its first makeup counter in London. The iconic “Gibson Girl” is the personification of feminine beauty, with her dramatic coif and sun-kissed cheeks. Brows were prominent, lashes were minimal, and porcelain skin was the goal.

Using age-old products and favorites from my cosmetic line, I walk you through how to get the look of the idolized Gibson Girl—exemplified by the most photographed woman of the era, Lily Elise.
Lead-based foundations, coal mascara, and talcum powder may have been the beauty regimen of the day in 1909, but product safety has improved dramatically since then. As always, my earth-friendly line of luxury makeup and cosmetics is safe for your skin and cruelty-free (not to mention fabulous).
