Who is Edwin Stanton? Part 1: April 14, 1865
April 14, 1865 is day that lives on in infamy, as it was when an actor by the name of John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. A little known fact is after the President was killed, Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton took on the responsibilities of the presidency before relinquishing the power to Vice President Andrew Johnson. In part 1 of the series, "Who is Edwin Stanton?," we talk about the events that occurred on April 14, 1865.
