How to improve the relationship you have with yourself | Mel Robbins
Right now, there’s a horrible, self-destructive habit hiding in your morning routine.
What is it? It is a habit of self-rejection.
50% of people won’t even look at themselves in the bathroom mirror. Which is self-rejection.
The rest of us look in the mirror and focus on what needs fixing. Another form of self-rejection.
Stop and think about it. What went through your head this morning as you stood in front of the bathroom mirror? I’m sure it wasn’t good. Be honest, you trashed yourself?
“Ugh”
“I’ve let myself go”
“I hate how I look”
You picked apart your appearance and then covered it up with make up. And from there - the self-bashing just continued...“I got up too late...”
“I’m looking so old.” “Why did I drink so much last night…”
Criticising yourself is a habit. Rejecting yourself is a habit. Focusing on the negative is a habit. If you want to change your life - start by changing this habit of self-rejection and self-criticism. Attack it every morning in the bathroom mirror.
I’ve been researching this for more than a year. When you break the habit of self-rejection and replace it with a habit of self-acceptance and self-empowerment - your whole life changes.
