Officials claim this step was necessary because awareness drives and warnings did not have much effect on habitual litterers.

Many residents have reacted strongly to the move. Some support it, saying it’s about time people faced real consequences for spoiling public spaces. They believe that embarrassment and fines will make others more careful about handling waste. Others, however, criticize the idea, arguing that it’s unfair and even humiliating. Some people claim they were targeted even though they segregated and disposed of their waste properly, but the collection system failed to pick it up on time.

The civic agency defends its approach by saying that the city has been struggling for years with illegal dumping spots and poor waste management habits. They believe this campaign will bring attention to the issue and force people to change their behavior. Alongside this, they plan to open several waste collection points across the city so that residents have proper places to drop their garbage.
