"A coy New Hampshire transplant, Mr. Becker's thought-provoking lyrics make excellent company for the hard-driving beat provided by Ms. Dayna Franklin, who is one of the most injurious drummer in town..."
L.A. Weekly

"Ferocious as an AK-47, loving as a prayer." -- Lance Loud, Exposure Magazine

"Arresting, heartfelt...a lyrical and literate set...should not be missed" -- Tomm Carroll, Copley Newspapers; Santa Monica Evening Outlook

"Touching...written and performed with vibrancy." -- Goldmine Magazine

"Passionate and fiercely original rock" --Santa Monica Bay News

"Thought provoking lyrics, hard driving...intense and intelligent" -- LA Weekly

"Smart, catchy...works like gangbusters." -- Tony Peyser, Santa Monica Mirror

"...Sweet and open and heartfelt and lovely. Pastoral lyrics..." --
Hank Rosenfeld, Santa Monica Sun.
(Hank is 'Henry Rosebuds,' on-air personality for KSAN, San Francisco, and WXRK in NYC)

"Incendiary and emotional rock."
Ruta Fox - Exposure Magazine

"Tuneful and intelligent rock...look for a light-hearted then intensely dramatic set...a rave recommendation."
Dave Zimmer - Bam Magazine

"...Becker has been tagged by the press for his writing and recordings as well as live solo appearances on both coasts, and a long series of crowded L.A. shows with The Mayflower Slaves garnering excellent reviews for their intense lyrics and Becker's vocals." -- Music Connection

"Becker takes on the oh-so-common malaise of contemporary life - dysfunctional relationships, shrinking civil rights, hostile takeovers - with savagery, wisdom and wit. The tall, dark and intense Becker hails from the spiritual space of New Hampshire where the state's motto jives with his own: 'Live Free Or Die.'" -- Hunter Drohojowska Philp: Author, Educator, Contemporary Art Critic & Host or KCRW Art Talk

Rushed up to the bandstand with my favorite girl
They were singing mood music for the end of the world
Stickin' to the rail, cuttin' to the bone
Like Napolean in France or Ancient Rome
Search the broken streets but nobody's home

Oh ladi ladi everything is alright
I don't see a thing that could put me uptight
oh ladi ladi is that smoke on the rise?
oh la dee la it's alright

I got the back-beat but my head's in a whirl
I was dreaming mood music for the end of the world
Rockin' future-shockin' boy things have changed
It ain't stoppin but folks just stay the same
This joint is dropping man
And no one's taking blame

Oh ladi ladi everything is alright....

I want to stand where I've always stood
But they knocked off the top of my neighborhood
I always hoped we'd make a final stand
We'd look into each other and begin again

I rushed up to the bandstand with my favorite girl
She was singing mood music for the end of the world

Oh ladi ladi everything is alright
I don't see a thing that could me uptight
Ooh ladi ladi is that smoke on the rise?
Oh la dee la it's alright isn't it?

...Oooh la dee la it's all
Ah, oooh ladi ladi
Ah, oooh
Oh la dee la it's alright...

...It's alright, it's alright...
...I don't see a thing
Ooh la-la la-dee is that smoke on the rise?

With eternal thanks for the graciousness, welcome, encouragement
and personal Support we received at Suntreader.
As time passed we've recorded in Nashville, New York City, Los Angeles
Washington at very many studios. It's never gotten better than Suntreader.
We're also very gratefu to Frank Tillitson at WLTN Radio in Littleton, New Hampshire
for finding, airing and first posting this track on the Web, to a surprisingly
nice response. This is the closest copy to the lost Master we've been thus
far able to locate. Everything Suntreader produced, including us here,
left the studio as clean as the many hits that have come from artists working there.

It was here where we met Craig Leon, who produced the first The Ramones album,
and many other artists in various styles; pop to classical recordings.
I guess this song was one of the ones that ended up taking us
across the country to Los Angeles; a place Mr. Pease and I had never
before seen.

I'm grateful for the years together with Billy Pease,
an amazing singer, an inspiration and hard working friend.
Many hours together around the piano. I still have some tapes;
and wish him and his family great Love.
