A car was torched during anti-immigration protests in Belfast on Tuesday (June 9), a day after a knife attack left a man seriously injured.

The unrest followed the arrest of a 30-year-old Sudanese man by police in Northern Ireland on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the attack, which took place in north Belfast on Monday night (June 8). The victim, a man in his 40s, sustained severe injuries, including wounds to his face, back and eyes.

Police have urged residents to remain calm and stepped up patrols across the area amid social media calls for further demonstrations. Authorities warned against a repeat of the anti-immigrant violence that has periodically erupted in Northern Ireland in recent years.
