RUS Webinar: Estimation of Forest Above-Ground Biomass with Sentinel-2 - PY02
During this webinar you will learn how to process Sentinel-2 image in order to estimate the value of forest above-ground biomass in forest area in Ethiopia.
In more details we will calculate different vegetation indices commonly used for forest biomass calculation purposes. We will combine them in order to perform different regression models using machine learning techniques: linear and non-linear model to predict the forest above-ground biomass. As a reference values of above-ground biomass in this area, we will use dataset coming from the Global datasets of forest above-ground biomass for the years 2010, 2017 and 2018. Developed by ESA Biomass Climate Change Initiative (BCCI).
We will also show you how to access the RUS Service and how to download, process, analyze and visualize the free data acquired by the Copernicus satellites.
All processing steps as well as machine learning regression models will be performed using Python in Jupyter Notebook.
