GoPro 7 Performance Low Light - "At Last, A Solution"

So the GoPro 7 Performance in low light is so poor. If only they'd said this in all the build up. I probably would have stuck with the session 4/5 that I had to sell to fund this venture. The Hypersmooth software is truly sensational, but only works in almost the best conditions possible for action sports. Anything outside of this you may struggle as the GoPro algoritm doesn't work properly. This then creates unusable footage. Footage that you don't realise is so bad until you see it on the bigger screen. By then you've probably lost the footage you hoped to capture as it's really that bad. Shakey footage doesn't look good in 2018....

As mentioned in this video. I contacted GoPro customer services and happened to get the most useless agent offering me rubbish advice. This advice took so long to get. This being as I spent most of the time on hold. He really didn't have a clue. I managed to keep my cool with him, but did explain he may need re-training for future queries.

So after spending hours of my time working this out and going through all the menues and settings, I've finally figured out what settings will offer the best possible footage given the current firmware.

Setting I used

2.7k resolution (I recommend 1080p & above)
Frames per second - 60fps (activates low light)
Field of view - your choice. I used superview
Low light - auto
Stabilisation - auto
Protune - on
Shutter - auto
EV Comp - either - 0.5/-1.0 if colour correcting. Set to 0 if not.
White balance - auto
ISO Min 100
ISO Max 1600
Sharpness - Meduim
Colour - Flat. Leave at gopro if you do not colour correct
Raw audio - off
Mics - wind

Hopefully in time the low light setting will be available in 24/30 FPS as for most action sports we don't all film in 60 FPS.

Now I can finally relax a little more with the feeling that I haven't completely wasted my money on this GoPro.

I've tried these setting on the GoPro 7 several times now and I'm more satisfied with the outcome compared to the hours of wasted footage thinking the hypersmooth would take care of it for me....
