Memphis to Hollywood and Audobon to Graceland! This is the latest installment of my potted history of Elvis Presley - an Elvis biography - that I've compiled from videos of our visits in and around Memphis in 2017 and 2019. This edition opens with Elvis at Crump Stadium in Memphis where Elvis turned up too late to present the carnvial queen with her award! A few days later Elvis was at the Memphis Recording Studios (Sun Studios) where he took part in what was to become known as the Million Dollar Quartet Session with Sun Records artists the man in black Johnny Cash, the Killer Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Elvis had a haircut at Jim's Barbers. Elvis was at Ellis Auditorium on Memphis' Main St, as Elvis attended Radio WDIA's Goodwill Revue show. Vegas showgirl and Elvis girlfriend Dottie Harmony, spent Christmas at Graceland, and a couple of days later Dottie Harmony watched Elvis play football at the Dave Wells Community Center field. Elvis pre-induction tests were at Kennedy Veterans Hospital just around the corner from his Elvis Audobon Drive home. This would be Elvis home for only a short time longer as Elvis mother Gladys and Elvis father Vernon found a house in the suburb of Whitehaven which Elvis paid a deposit without seeing it. That house of course was Graceland, Elvis last home in Memphis, and this time it would be aspiring Hollywood actress Yvonne Lime that Elvis would take along to check on progress of renovations. The rest of the year was taken up with Elvis' 3rd film Jailhouse Rock for MGM, one of my favourite Elvis films, touring, recording and more downtime in Memphis than he'd had for the last 2 years. Before too long Uncle Sam would call and Elvis joined the army.........
